Our Doctors
A GP is a qualified doctor who has training in a wide range of medical fields. They can consult on a wide range of medical issues and often provide treatment options. A GP can refer to specialist doctors when needed.
At Blacketts Medical Practice we have five partner GPs. Partners own the practice and make decisions on how the practice is run. We also have one salaried GP who is employed by the practice

Our Training Doctors
Blacketts Medical Practice is a training practice, meaning we host doctors at various stages of their training. Medical students are training at university to become doctors and consulting with a wide range of patients is essential to their training. Foundation doctors (F2 doctors) are qualified junior doctors who have not yet completed specialist training and work across both hospital and GP surgeries providing essential medical services. Registrars are qualified junior doctors who have started their specialist training. At Blacketts Medical Practice we host GP registrars, meaning that they are undergoing specialist training to become a GP. Training doctors may be sat observing a consultation or seeing patients independently, but under supervision by one of our GP team. You can request that a training doctor is not present for your consultation if you wish.
Our Nurse Practitioners
Nurse practitioners are qualified nurses who have undergone further training and gained extra qualifications. This means that they can see and treat a wide range of conditions in a similar way to a GP.
At Blacketts Medical Practice our nurse practitioner focuses on acute conditions and will transfer care to a GP if longer-term care becomes necessary
Nurse Cheryl Viswanathan
Our Pharmacists
Pharmacists are specialists in medications and offer a wealth of knowledge about medications and their use. Many pharmacists can now also prescribe medications and have in-depth knowledge in particular areas, such as blood pressure or cholesterol management.
At Blacketts Medical Practice our pharmacist carries out our annual medication reviews and will often consult with our patients about issues such as cholesterol or blood pressure.

Our Practice Nurses
Practice nurses are fully qualified nurses who work within GP surgeries. They carry out a wide range of roles including taking bloods, dressing wounds and carrying out tests such as ECGs. Many practice nurses will also undergo further training in specific areas. This means that they can then carry out consultations such as asthma reviews or diabetic reviews and they have a wealth of knowledge in these areas.
At Blacketts Medical Practice our practice nurses carry out most of our long-term condition reviews and will make changes to medications such as inhalers or diabetic medications at these reviews when needed.

Our Practice Management Team
All GP surgeries will have a Practice Manager who is responsible for the smooth running of a surgery. This can include managing staff, ensuring the practice remains up-to-date with policies and procedures and handling complaints. At Blacketts Medical Practice we also have an Administrative Manager who helps to organise and manage the administrative tasks for the surgery, alongside the administrative team.
Sarah Stelling (practice manager)
Melissa Moss (administrative manager)
Our Administrative Team
At Blacketts Medical Practice we have a large and dedicated team of administrative staff who are vital to keeping the practice running smoothly. This team ranges from the receptionists who help to direct you to the most appropriate person, to the secretaries who manage our referrals, to the financial officer and medical records team. Without our administrative team the practice couldn’t function
Our Housekeeping Team
We have two dedicated housekeepers who keep the surgery clean and orderly. This is vital to ensuring the practice can meet the needs of patients and is part of the inspection process by the CQC
Outside Organisations
We host various healthcare professionals at the surgery throughout the week. These teams are not directly employed by the practice, but work with us to provide the best possible care for our patients. These teams include:
- Social Prescribers
