How To Nominate a Pharmacy

Quote / Testimonial:

Prescriptions are sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy. You must nominate a pharmacy that you would like to use. If you wish to use an online pharmacy, you must contact the pharmacy directly in order to nominate them

  • Online – the easiest way to nominate a pharmacy is online, using NHS Access
  • Telephone – call 01325 380 640 between 2pm and 4pm, Monday to Thursday
  • In Person – pop into the surgery and speak with a receptionist

Prescription Types

  • Acute Prescriptions – anything issued by the surgery that is not intended to be continued long-term, including antibiotics or a short course of painkillers. They are not added to your repeat prescription list
  • Repeat Prescriptions – prescriptions added to a “repeat list” which is kept on your medical record. This allows you to request these medications each month without needing to speak to a doctor. Typically this will include medications such as blood pressure tablets or inhalers

How To Request a Repeat Prescription

  • Online – the quickest and easiest way to request a prescription is online using Online Services
  • Telephone – call 01325 380 640 between 2pm and 4pm, Monday to Thursday

Requests for medications which are not on your repeat medication list may require you to speak with a clinician, or may be rejected.

Medication Reviews and Queries

We carry out an annual review of your medications during the month of your birth. During your review, we aim to:

  • Ensure you understand what each of your medications is for
  • Allow us to answer your queries about your medications
  • Check that you are still taking all of the medications you are prescribed
  • Ensure your medications are still working and appropriate
  • Ensure any monitoring needs, such as blood tests or blood pressure, are up to date
  • Stop medications that are available over the counter, as per NHS guidance

Non-urgent advice: Queries About Prescriptions

If you have any queries regarding your medications you should first speak with your community pharmacist who can answer most queries, or direct you to the best person to help. You can also use the NHS Medicines A-Z to learn more about your medicines.
